Double Victory for RDRC at Charity Race!
What an incredible achievement for our club! Rowers from our club recently celebrated a phenomenal double victory at the Great GOSH Row. Our members secured the fastest race time on the water and raised thousands of pounds for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Our “Oars for Cures” crew delivered an awesome performance. They crossed the finish line as the fastest boat in their race section. The crew included club members:
- Rob
- Leanne
- Rhiannon
- Sian
- Keith
- Sue
- Maz
- Colin
- Nickie
Their success extended well beyond their performance. The crew also became the second-highest fundraising team in the entire event. They brought in an incredible £7,243 for the Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) Children’s Charity.
In an extraordinary twist, the top fundraising spot was claimed by the official GOSH staff crew, who raised £7,539. This staff team was led by Margaret, who is also a member of our River Dart Rowing Club!
Because of this connection, the event turned into a massive joint celebration for our community. Together, the two connected teams raised a spectacular combined total of £14,782!
The vital funds raised by both crews will go directly toward building a new children’s Cancer Centre, which is due to open in 2029. This state-of-the-art facility will provide specialist care for children facing the most complex medical needs.
The crew shared a joint statement to thank everyone involved:
“We are incredibly proud to have represented River Dart Rowing Club. A special thank you to everyone who donated, shared our page, and cheered us on. Together, we have made a real difference.”
Congratulations to everyone who rowed, donated, and supported this fantastic cause. You have made the whole club very proud!
